Legal Advice

Legal Entry

Always make sure that your passport is valid.

Renew your passport at least two months before its expiration date at the relevant representative office of Tajikistan abroad.

If you lose your passport, immediately report it to the representative office of Tajikistan and provide detailed information, such as your passport number, the date and place of issue, your first and last name, and the date of entry into the country of destination. This is why it is very important to always keep a copy of your passport. Keep a copy of your passport, including an electronic copy, in a place that is easily accessible to you.

Renew your visa/employment contract before it expires. If you decide to return to Tajikistan for vacation, make sure that your visa does not expire before you return to the country of destination.

Do not stay in the country of destination after your visa has expired.

Legal Employment

Always check the validity of your work permit or a similar document issued by the country of destination.

Always make sure that you have a valid fixed-term employment contract.

Follow the laws of the country where you work, even if they seem strict or unfair.

How to Protect Your Rights

As a labour migrant, you must remember this and remain vigilant about cases of violence and exploitation. If there are signs of such cases, immediately discuss the matter with your supervisor, employer, or recruitment agent. If the issue is not resolved immediately, report it to the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan or other competent institutions, or to your embassy, where you may receive assistance.

If you are not satisfied with the response of these institutions, the matter may be referred to the local judicial authorities.

How Can You Recognize Violations of Your Labour Rights During Labour Migration?

Violations of your labour rights include any form of unfair or biased treatment at work. Examples of labour rights violations include:

Contract substitution
Excessive working hours
Delays in payment, as well as non-payment of wages and other remuneration
Unlawful deductions from wages
Unsafe working conditions without proper occupational safety measures
Physical, financial and/or psychological violence, and sexual harassment

Always remember: legal residence and employment abroad are the key to a safe life!
