On 25 August 2026, the official opening of the State Institution “Counselling and Pre-Departure Preparation Centres for Labour Migrants” took place in Dushanbe. The event was attended by the Minister of Labour, Migration and Employment of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan Soleha Kholmahmadzoda, First Deputy Mayor of Dushanbe Bakhtiyor Sharifi, Chairman of Shokhmansur District Olimzoda Safar Mahmadsho, Head of the Migration Service Nodirzoda Imatsho, representatives of international organisations and other relevant stakeholders. During the event, MRC presented information about its activities, key areas of work and counselling services provided to citizens on safe labour migration.

As part of the event, MRC staff conducted a practical pre-departure preparation session for citizens planning to migrate to Bulgaria for employment. Participants received information on safe migration, the importance of preparing before departure, and the need to verify documents, employment conditions and the requirements of the destination country. Participants were also informed about available sources of reliable information and counselling services that can support them before departure and help reduce risks associated with labour migration.

A separate part of the event focused on English language learning. MRC conducted a short practical training session introducing participants to effective methods for learning English within a short period of time. The session also included recommendations for independent learning and information on available online resources and tools that can support regular language practice.

The work of MRC in providing information, counselling and pre-departure preparation for potential labour migrants was highly appreciated by the participants and invited guests. It was highlighted that providing citizens with practical information and counselling support before departure contributes to safer and better-prepared migration. Participants also expressed their interest in continuing and expanding MRC’s work in this area, including pre-departure information sessions, counselling and educational activities for citizens planning to migrate for employment.
